Resident Storyteller - Jacque Redleaf

RAP focused on heritage in 2007/08 in our school art residencies.

Musician/historian Terry McKinney and Native American storyteller Jacque Redleaf worked in our schools providing a vast array of experiences and hands-on activities on heritage.

Artists meet with students in a hands-on activity for 5 contact hours a week. In addition to the residencies, TRAC also sponsored a teacher training workshop that focused on using "heritage" in the classroom.

In February and March, two special education exhibits featuring student artwork are displayed at the TRAC Galleries.

The residency program is made possible in part by an Arts in Education Grant from the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency, and with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and our local Mitchell County and Yancey County Boards of Education.
