DESCRIPTION:The Toe River June Studio Tour is almost just around the corner Mitchell and Yancey Counties. This first of two premier events held each year the first weekend in June features over 80 open studios and galleries.  On the evening of the first day of the tour from 5:30 to 7:30pm\, TRAC hosts a reception at the Gallery where visitors and artists get together to shake hands\, tell a story or two\, share a glass of wine; and where those “taking” the tour can plan the rest of their weekend. The tour is self-guided and free. Hours are 10am to 5pm each day—Friday-Sunday.. Just pick up a guide at either TRAC location or at retailers and studios throughout the region and follow the red and white tour signs. For Abecedarium | Envisioned\, Holly Walker has chosen to display the title piece as a wall of 26 ceramic plates\, using one letter of the alphabet as a design starting point for each plate. Some letters are recognizable\, others are harder to identify. SUMMARY:Toe River Chamber Ensemble Spring Concert
DESCRIPTION:The first concert of the 2017 season is planned for Tuesday\, May 30 at the First Baptist Church on the Town Square in Burnsville. These are always free\, but get there early. The pews fill up quickly. \nThe Toe River Chamber Ensemble is TRAC’s own community orchestra. First organized in 1975\, the all-volunteer Ensemble consists of approximately two dozen local musicians of all ages who meet weekly to rehearse. The Ensemble\, together for over 30 years\, are musicians from Yancey\, Mitchell\, Avery\, Madison\, and Buncombe Counties\, and from many backgrounds\, professions and ages — farmers\, librarians\, salespeople\, potters\, ministers\, photographers\, office and construction workers\, teachers and students\, doctors and hospital technicians; the list goes on and on. It is an interesting cross-section and a demographic blend created by a shared love of classical music.

SUMMARY:BobFest 2017
DESCRIPTION:The fourth annual Micaville BobFest is a celebration of Bob Dylan’s music\, held each year on a Thursday near his birthday. It typically features about 20 area musicians and a comparable number of other audience members. Perhaps two dozen of Bob’s songs\, or occasionally a song about him are performed during the Fest. Lyrics are provided\, and all attendees are invited to sing along. The last two years have also featured a parody of a Dylan song\, and another is planned for this year. \nFresh-baked goods\, gelato\, and beverages are available at Maples Coffee Shop\, attached to the gallery.  All are welcome to join in the festivities.
