For over the past three years, 18 Mitchell and Yancey County community organizations and local government agencies have met to work on the idea of branding this Toe River Valley region for its cultural assets — the artists who work here, the mountains that surround us, the river that flows through, the quality of life, the sense of place.

Through funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Economic Development Agency, Samuel L. Phillips Family Foundation, The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, and John & Robyn Horn Foundation we are making the “Journey to the Arts” a reality in the Toe River Valley.
